Dear Techcombank Ha Noi Marathon 2020 participating runners, volunteers and partners,
On January 31, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency concerning the new Coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The highest level of the Vietnamese government along with related agencies are closely monitoring this Coronavirus outbreak.
As the organizer of the Techcombank Ha Noi Marathon 2020, Sunrise Events Vietnam is working closely with all agencies, governing bodies and sponsors and have a created response and communication team to collect the most up-to-date information and implement safety measures accordingly.
Concurrently, in accordance with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam Decree: 396/CĐ-BVHTTD, it is with regret that we have to inform all parties that the Techcombank Ha Noi Marathon 2020 will be postponed until further notice. This decision was made after much deliberation and with the health, safety and wellbeing of all in consideration. We will update information on a regular basis through our Techcombank Ha Noi Marathon 2020 official website, social channels and directly with participants that have already registered for the upcoming inaugural Marathon. At present, we have chosen not to cancel the Techcombank Ha Noi Marathon as many of our athletes and members of our community would like this event to take place so we will now work with our partners, our athletes and the relevant authorities to secure a date going forward to stage the Marathon.
We encourage all runners, volunteers and other related parties to monitor their own health and stay vigilant by adopting stringent hygiene practices and have provided the following link to the World Health Organization (WHO) for relevant information – https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus
