Hanoi, October 3, 2025 – The Opening Ceremony of the 4th Edition of the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon was solemnly held under the direction of the Hanoi People’s Committee, hosted by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi, with the title sponsor of Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) and organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV). The official race on October 5 will welcome more than 13,000 domestic and international runners, competing across iconic routes that pass through Hanoi’s cultural and historical landmarks, spreading the spirit of “Run for a Greater Vietnam”.

This 4th Edition marks the return of one of the most inspiring sporting events of the capital, with the number of participants nearly 1.5 times higher than last year. With carefully designed race routes that traverse heritage and cultural highlights of Hanoi, the marathon promises not only an upgraded running experience but also an infusion of cutting-edge digital technology, Vietnamese cultural symbols, and international standards, creating an exceptional and memorable hallmark.
At the Opening Ceremony, Techcombank donated VND 2 billion to support the “For the Poor” (Vì Người Nghèo) Fund of Hanoi City to build solidarity houses, the Hanoi Children’s Protection Fund, the Hanoi Basketball Federation, and the Hanoi Cycling & Motorsports Federation. This activity reflects Techcombank’s strategic mission of building a better life, sharing challenges with communities, and fulfilling its corporate social responsibility toward a sustainable future.

Mrs. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, affirmed: “Following the success of previous editions, the 4th Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon in 2025 continues to reinforce Hanoi’s position on the regional and global sports map. This is not merely a race, but a journey for every runner and citizen to feel the vibrant rhythm of life, the beauty of landscapes, and the millennia-old cultural values of our Capital. Hanoi will direct its departments and localities to coordinate closely with the Organizing Committee to ensure the event is safe, professional, thoughtful, and leaves a lasting impression on runners, citizens, and international friends alike.”
Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the 2025 Marathon Village officially opened at Vinhomes Riverside Long Bien, becoming a vibrant exhibition hub for leading brands in sports, health, nutrition, and lifestyle. At the Techcombank Expo, the bank impressed visitors with a showcase of creative technological solutions and unique items under the theme “Technology and the Future.”

This year’s race kit also drew attention, inspired by the Khue Van Pavilion – a symbol of knowledge and scholarship in Thang Long Citadel – combined with a design concept of ““Intersecting Curves,” representing fluidity, connectivity, and the synergy of community strength.
Another unique highlight of this year’s marathon is the application of AI technology on the course, delivering personalized highlight videos to all runners. Within 24–36 hours after completing the race, each runner will receive a short video capturing their most memorable moments. Earlier, the campaign “Create Your AI Video – Become an Ambassador of the 2025 Techcombank Marathon” attracted strong public attention, with over 50,000 videos generated in just two weeks, effectively inspiring communities through the fusion of sport and modern technology.
On race day, more than 13,000 athletes from 51 countries and territories will compete, positioning Hanoi as a global destination for remarkable running achievements. The route, which passes cultural and historical landmarks such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Long Bien Bridge, and the National Assembly House, allows runners to not only challenge their physical limits but also experience the blend of ancient heritage and modern vibrancy. Remarkably, the 21.1km race will feature the oldest registered runner at 81 years old, sharing a powerful story of perseverance and passion for sport.

In addition to international athletes, the marathon will welcome Vietnam’s elite runners, including national record holder Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Hoang Thi Oanh, and Nguyen Trung Cuong, gold medalist at the 32nd SEA Games. Particularly notable is the “Sub-3 Train” group of nearly 80 runners who have completed a marathon in under 3 hours, setting a new record in both size and scale, becoming a symbol of aspiration and a source of inspiration for thousands to aim higher.
Mr. Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank, stated: “Through the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon and many other CSR initiatives, the Bank has made meaningful contributions to the Hanoi community. Entering its fourth edition, the Marathon is not just a race but a journey that connects sport, culture, and tourism, honoring heritage and promoting Hanoi as a vibrant, distinctive, and globally admired destination. It is also a platform for athletes to share the spirit of sportsmanship, spark national pride, and contribute to positive social change. Every stride is a step forward in building a new Vietnam – a nation where every individual is empowered with aspiration and motivation to grow and excel every day.”
Mr. Rob Zamacona, General Manager of Sunrise Events Vietnam, shared: “The 4th Edition of the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon is a bridge between Vietnam’s rich traditions and its aspirations to rise higher. In Hanoi – a city of a thousand years of heritage – every stride reflects the resilience and determination of the running community. With our vision to inspire 100 million Vietnamese to unleash their potential through sport, we continuously elevate the race: a safe and optimized course covering 37 iconic landmarks; AIMS-certified distances that deliver international standards right in the heart of the Capital. This year, more than 13,000 runners will join the challenge; the race will be broadcast live on VTV and accompanied by interactive activities and mini-games at the Marathon Village and online platforms to spread the festive atmosphere. Ensuring absolute safety and a complete experience for both athletes and spectators remains our highest priority.”
The entire race and award ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV Go, livestreamed on VTV Sports Fanpage, VTV Sports YouTube, and the official Techcombank Vietnam Fanpage.
